Deep Carbon Reservoirs and Fluxes

Terry Plank, Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory, Columbia Univeristy

This talk will present an overview of deep carbon reservoirs and fluxes, from the quantities and movements of carbon into and out of the mantle, to the origin of diamonds; from the balance of subducted  organic and inorganic carbon, to the carbon content of the magmas; from the carbon expelled from restless volcanoes to the diffuse carbon emitting from tectonic regions; and finally a community effort to build a deep earth carbon cycle model.
