       Volatiles are minor components of the Earth. Like the blood stream of an organism, however, the circulation of volatiles in the Earth’s deep interior dictate climate, resources, energy, natural hazards, and other essentials that define the Earth as a habitable planet. The high pressure-temperature conditions in the deep interior drastically and categorically alter the physics and chemistry of the volatiles; full understanding their behaviors requires studies under extreme environments. Sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the Deep Carbon Observatory in U.S.A., the Center for High Pressure Science and Technology Advanced Research is organizing a Deep Volatile Summit at Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility on March 13-14, 2018. This summit will focus on the deep carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and other volatiles, and their cycle in the Earth’s interior, and the significances to energy mineral resources and environmental change.


    碳、氢、氧等元素构成的挥发性物质,虽仅占地球的少量,但其在深部的蕴藏循环,犹如血脉主导着表层气圈水圈的环境变迁和生物圈的存亡兴灭。它们也调控着地球适宜人类居住发展的资源、能源、气象、避灾等自然条件。今天人类活动已足以冲击全球自然演变。我们亟需了解挥发物在实体地球内部,以及过去、现在和未来所起的四维运作机制。首须探索挥发物在深部的极端温度压力条件下的物理化学新貌。高科中心将于2018年3月13-14日,在上海同步光源召开由中国工程院和国际深部碳观测所联合会主办的《地球深部挥发物与能源环境》高端论坛。邀请国内外多位顶级专家,对深部挥发物的最新科研方向和热点做主题报告,并深入研讨。
