Abstract
Pressure calibration in static compression experiments has been undertaken on the basis of the equation of state (EOS) of the pressure scale materials such as Au, Pt, Ag, Cu, MgO, etc. derived from the Hugoniot-compression curves (Au scale, Pt scale, Ruby scale, etc.). For discussion of EOS of solids, we must obtain the hydrostatic-isothermal compression curve from the Hugoniot data. For this we need to access the shear strength under shock compression, and to get the Grüneisen parameter. We have been measuring afresh the Hugoniot data of W, Cu, Au, Pt, Ag, MgO. by using the high-time resolution streak camera system using the mirror-rotating type streak camera and long-pulse dye laser equipped with a powder gun and two-stage light gas gun. We have also performed the VISAR experiment to get the strength values. In addition, we started to measure the Hugoniot data of heated samples to determine the Grüneisen parameter by using the high-frequency heating system. We succeeded in the measurement of the high temperature Hugoniot data at 600-800℃ on W, Au, etc. The detailed results and discussion of the EOS and Grüneisen parameter of pressure-scale materials will be presented at the seminar.
