Abstract:

In this short talk, I will introduceseveral of our recent projects in my HPC group at Southern University. Ourgroup’s research mainly focused on computational materials design (high entropyalloys (HEA), oxide dispersion strengthened alloy (ODS), thermal barriercoatings (TBC) etc.), nanomaterial synthesis, high pressure XRD synchrotronexperimental materials structure and property, and biomedical ligand/proteinand protein/protein docking and molecular dynamics simulation, with the goal onatomic/molecular level interaction mechanism study and drug/vaccine screening.Specifically, I’ll introduce our research advances on TBC, ODS, TBC, iron-basedhigh temperature superconductors electronic structure calculation, non-preciousmetal catalyst for fuel cells, and biomedical simulation of BPA/2E2R, apocynin/1K4U,and gB/gH-gL virus/membrane systems etc. Then our future works and vision ofpossible SU/HPSTAR collaboration research works/projects will be presented.

Biography of the Speaker:

Prof. Shizhong Yang: Affliated with LONIInstitute/Computer Science Department at Southern University-Baton Rouge. Hismajor research areas include: computational material, computational biomedicalresearch, and high speed network. Also does high pressure radial/axialsynchrotron XRD of nano NiS and high entropy alloys.


Prof. Ebrahim Khosravi: Professor & Chairman of the Department of ComputerScience, Southern University.
