Behind High Pressure Experiments by HPSTAR
At the first week in January, 2014, HPSTAR scientific staff and the invited visiting scholars together did the fourth round of high pressure experiments in SSRF. The team optimized the experimental conditions of NO.15 Beamline and did researches on the properties of hydrogen under high pressure via X-ray non-elastic scattering experiments.
Up until now, HPSTAR has organized four rounds of high pressure experiments in SSRF, covering X-ray diffraction, X-ray absorption spectroscopy, inelastic scattering and so on. Via experiments, vital data were obtained and relative researches have been pushed forward. Except for SSRF experiments, HPSTAR staff and students have also applied for the beamtime of synchrotron radiation equipments overseas like APS, SLAC and BNL, and went there doing experiments.
It is worthy of notice that all the experiments are organized based on HPSTAR’s blueprint-- Through promoting international collaboration and utilizing global advanced research platforms, HPSTAR aims to make significant breakthroughs in high-pressure frontier research in the near future. Furthermore, such actions motivate the possibility and advantages of resources optimization all over the world.

高科中心积极利用国内外大型实验平台开展实验工作
2014年1月1日,高科中心的科研人员及邀请来访学者共同完成了2013年在上海光源的第四轮高压科研实验。本次实验除高科中心成员外,还邀请了美国斯坦福直线加速器中心的翁祖谦研究员、卡内基研究院高压联合研究中心的肖煜明研究员、沈国寅研究员,以及美国布鲁克海文国家实验室的蔡永强研究员。实验团队在上海光源15U1线站上对高压实验条件进行了优化,并开展了高压X射线非弹性散射实验,对高压下氢的电子态密度进行了研究。
至此在2013年,高科中心在上海光源上通过对光源现有公共平台的能力改造,先后开展了高压X射线衍射、高压X光吸收、非弹性X光散射等实验,取得了重要的数据和进展。与此同时,高科中心科研人员还积极到国外同步辐射装置申请机时,开展实验研究。2013年6月和10月,高科中心上海分中心派出研究员及博士后、研究生10人次先后赴美国先进光子源、美国斯坦福直线加速器中心以及美国布鲁克海文国家实验室同步辐射光源开展了多轮高压实验。
未来,高科将依据自身的科研规划,继续秉持“开放、顶尖、合作”的理念,充分利用国内外先进大型实验平台并加强科技合作与交流,争取在短期内取得高压领域的基础科研创新突破,逐步实现高科的科研及发展目标。
