Prof. Raymond Jeanloz visits

Invited by HPSTAR Director Hokwang Mao and HPSTAR Shanghai Lab Director Bin Chen, distinguished Professor Raymond Jeanloz of the University of California at Berkeley, a member of the US National Academy of Sciences, visited HPSTAR from May 5 to May 6.

During his visit, Professor Jeanloz delivered an academic talk entitled “Toward Atomic Pressures” to the staff and students of HPSTAR and SSRF. In his talk he discussed “why we study high pressures？” and addressed on laboratory methods and relevant hot topics such as helium reflectivity and hydrogen metallization. Following his talk, Professor Jeanloz had an enlightening discussion on research work with HPSTAR Postdoctors and students.
