Behind High Pressure Experiments
In the first week of January, 2014, HPSTAR scientific staff and visiting scholars together did the fourth round of high pressure experiments at SSRF. The team optimized the experimental conditions of Beamline 15 and conducted experiments to study the properties of hydrogen under high pressure with non-elastic x-ray scattering techniques.
Up until now, HPSTAR has made four rounds of high pressure experiments at SSRF, including X-ray diffraction,X-ray absorption spectroscopy, inelastic scattering and other experiments. Except for SSRF experiments, HPSTAR scientists and students have also applied for the beamtime of overseas synchrotron light sources. They have also conducted experiments at APS, SSRL, ALS and NSLS.
It is worthy of notice that all the experiments are organized based on HPSTAR’s blueprint-- Through international collaboration and utilizing global advanced research platforms, HPSTAR aims to make significant breakthroughs in high-pressure frontier research.
