Dr. Qingyang Hu awarded IUCr prize at IXS 2015
Dr. Qingyang Hu, from Center for High Pressure Science & Technology Advanced Research (HPSTAR), was awarded IUCr prize at the 9th IXS International Conference at NSRRC, Hsinchu, Taiwan on November 24, 2015.
The IUCr Young Scientist Award is the award to young scientists who have made outstanding contributions to the crystallography society. Qingyang's work covers crystallographic study on silica under extreme high-pressure condition. Silica is used in the manufacturing of microchips, cement, glass, and many other applications in our daily life.
The International Union of Crystallography (IUCr) is a member of the International Council for Science (ICSU) and exists to serve the world community of crystallographers. As an International Scientific Union. Its objectives are to promote international cooperation in crystallography and to contribute to all aspects of crystallography, to promote international publication of crystallographic research, to facilitate standardization of methods, units, nomenclatures and symbols, and to form a focus for the relations of crystallography to other sciences.
The 9th international conference on IXS was hosted by NSRRC, Taiwan, following the traditions of the past IXS conferences at: Krakow, Poland (1992); Tokyo, Japan (1995); Montauk, USA (1998); Haikko, Finland (2001); APS, USA (2004); Awaji, Japan (2007); ESRF, France (2010); and SLAC, USA (2013). IXS 2015 brought together researchers from all over the world working in the field of inelastic x-ray scattering. It provided a forum for scientists to present new discoveries and research related to resonant and non-resonant inelastic X-ray scattering, and opportunities to exchange information about the latest technical developments and applications.
