Director of HPSTAR participated at the 8th WCGC

Director Ho-kwang Mao participated at The 8th World Chinese Geosciences Conference (June 15-21, 2015), hosted by the Institute of Earth Sciences of Academia Sinica (Taiwan), a proud member of the world Chinese geoscientist community.

The past two decades have seen numerous meetings convened for geoscientists from both sides of the Taiwan Strait. The Cross-strait Geological Conference held in March 1995 in Taipei, which was attended by more than 400 people, opened up a new era of active academic exchange in geosciences since the travel ban between Taiwan and mainland China was lifted. Since then, 7 World Chinese Geoscience Conferences have been held in various places including Beijing, Stanford University, the University of Hong Kong, Nanjing University, the Longtan Science Park in Taiwan, Chifeng City in Inner-Mongolia, and the Chengdu University of Technology in Sichuan. These conferences provided a regular channel for academic exchange among the geoscientists of Chinese descent worldwide.
