HPSTAR Open Day

HPSTAR Open Day on August 24, 2017

HPSTAR held its Open Day in Beijing on August 24, 2017. The event was associated with the 26th International Conference on High Pressure Science and Technology (AIRAPT 26) as an Academic Tour during the last day of the meeting, with purpose of introducing HPSTAR to the worldwide high-pressure research community.

Nearly one hundred professors, scientists, postdocs and students from all around the world participated in the event. HPSTAR Director Dr. Ho-kwang Mao greeted the guests with his welcome speech, and Dr. Kuo Li gave a brief introduction to the organization and research areas of HPSTAR. A poster session exhibiting the research highlights and facilities of all branches of HPSTAR at Beijing, Shanghai and Changchun was held as the beginning of the field touring. Representatives from the three branches introduced the forty nine posters to the guests. Following the poster session, the guests visited the laboratories located in the CSRC building and took a tour to the new building for HPSTAR Beijing next to CSRC.

All the guests enjoyed the half-day event, many of them expressed strong desires for

future collaborations with HPSTAR.
