Theoretical cognition progress and challenges of the ultra-deep Oil-Gas Exploration

Abstract: Series of oil and gas fields, represented by Yuanba filed and Keshen-Dabei filed, have been found in the ultra-deep stratum (depth over 6000m) of Sichuan and Tarim Basin. Great achievements have been made in the acquaintance of ultra-deep reservoir development and hydrocarbon accumulation mechanism, as well as the reservior identification & prediction technique, the drilling-completion and testing technique for ultra-deep complex wells. Accordingly, 4 aspects of research need further work, which are the controlling factors for complex ultra-deep reservoir forming, the oil & gas enrichment rules in the unconventional condition with high temperatures & pressures and low porosity & permeability, the ultra-deep reservior prediction technique and the auxiliary equipment of oil-gas exploration and development.
